Shortly after Hurricane Ike hit the Texas Gulf Coast, Care for Elders convened organizations concerned about seniors to determine the recovery needs of older adults, to understand and problem-solve the challenges elders were experiencing in accessing disaster recovery resources, and to promote good communication within the aging network about who was doing what, where and when.

Register today for the 2010 Conference for Supervisors of Direct Care Workers. This conference is specifically for those who supervise direct care workers caring for older adults- regardless of the setting. Designed to educate, motivate and sharpen participant's skills while providing insights and innovative tools. 
Direct care workers are in key positions to help older adults manage the challenges they face and remain "ready for life." With acknowledgement and respect for this critical role, Care for Elders is proud to present the "Ready for Life Award" to three outstanding direct care workers. These individuals will be recognized for the contributions they have made to helping their clients be "ready for life." Nomination deadline is March 29, 2010.
