Initiatives & Tools
Care for Elders is committed to listening to consumers' concerns, developing and testing new initiatives that respond, and using evaluation results to advocate for improved policies and practices. We heard loudly and clearly from consumers that it is difficult to access services. We heard that older adults are extremely concerned about the screening and training of hands-on, direct care workers. We also know that too many older adults struggle with depression that can be treated.
Since 2002, Care for Elders has developed and delivered innovative strategies to improve service delivery practices and client outcomes. We have also equipped providers with tools, allowing them to have greater impact. 2-1-1/Access Network
Navigating the system to access needed help can be daunting, and for many elders, impossible. The 2-1-1/Care for Elders Access Network ensures help for older adults seeking services and assistance.
Quality and Workforce
There can be no more vulnerable time for an older person than when he/she must rely on outside help - a stranger - to provide assistance with the basic, and often personal, activities of daily living. Consumers are frustrated and worried about the dependability, reliability and trustworthiness of direct care workers.
Get Ready for Life
Being "ready for life" means being prepared; having a plan for the "what if", and talking with your family about what is important to you. It is never too late to take charge; we can help.
Healthy IDEAS
Depression effects far more than a person's emotional well-being when undiagnosed or untreated. Sometimes, even small steps toward greater involvement in meaningful activities can make a big difference.
